Hand Cut Baked Fries

Yum

My girls have been asking for french fries… Yes, she has eaten fries, especially when we travel. However, it’s never a choice of food when we are home. Since she has been bugging me for it, I made her some on the weekend with freshly cut potatoes and baked in the oven instead of deep frying. Needless to say, the fries were wiped out on their plates, and no they can’t tell the differences!

Ingredients (Serves 2)

  • 3 russet potatoes, cut into 1/2 inch strips
  • 1-2 tbsp olive oil, reserve some to grease tray
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Preheat oven to 230C
In a large bowl, soak potatoes in hot water for 10 minutes.
This removes some of the starch from the potatoes allowing it to bake up crispy.
Drain and blot dry the cut potatoes and place them in a large bowl

Add 1.5 tbsp olive oil, pepper, and paprika.
Grease the baking tray with the remaining oil.

Lay out fries flat on a baking sheet.
Bake for about 30-40 mins or until fries are crisp.
Toss in salt to taste.

Bon appetit!!

Hi Bee Lay, you can get paprika from any supermarket. Just look for it at the Spice section. They are in small red bottles. 🙂
