9 Minutes Marinator Product Review

This post is a review on a kitchen gadget I bought online. I first saw this item on one of those group deals website. It was snatched up pretty quickly. I took a couple of minutes to ponder if I should buy it and when I made my decision… went on the website, it said ‘SOLD OUT’. Then I searched for it online and found one at the same ‘deal’ price. It claims to take only need 9 minutes to do what an overnight marinade would produce. I am always pretty skeptical about such device, but this time round I decided to fork out the money and see what all the fuss is about. Let’s unbox it!

This was how much I paid. Delivery was fast, about 2 days!

The manual came with recipes which I thought was really neat!

It has almost 5-6 pages of recipes from all over the world!

Let’s move on..

The vacuum canister holds the motor.

When everything was unwrapped. Not too many parts, which is always a good thing.

All the parts can be nicely stored in the canister, clever!

My only worry is that I may lose the valve gasket, which is about the size of a 50 cent coin, and it comes out pretty easily.

The steps are pretty simple. Lets test it shall we?

I’m using it to marinade chicken here for a common Filipino dish.
Chicken Adobo… Traditionally, this dish calls for the chicken to be marinated overnight or up to 24 hours.

After adding the marinade, put in the chicken. Simple!

Cover on and suck out the air to create a vacuum! The company claims that the vacuuming process opens up tissues and muscles for the marinade to penetrate into the meat.

Oh it is tight alright! Don’t have to worry about liquid leaking.

Put it on and turn it on! It’s quiet too! No waking sleeping babies. Me likey!

After 9 minutes this is what it looks like. Looks pretty promising… The squarish looking plate on the top is used to tenderize the meat.

Here is a comparison of the finished product. The top using the 9 min marinator. The husband couldn’t tell the difference and my Filipino helper was impressed by the result. So I guess it worked. I thought it did a pretty good job. I will try another dish and then give this device a fair rating. One thing that could be improved though, would be to have a timer display… so i know how much time is left, or how much longer I’ll have to wait. I know from 24 hours to 9 minutes, I really shouldn’t be complaining. 🙂
